Curriculum for Tiny Tigers, 3-5 Years Old
Levels and Progress Reports
Each child enters the program in Tiny Tigers Level One,
then if qualified and appropriate will advance to Tiny Tigers Level Two.
To advance from Level One to Level Two the child needs
a minimum of three months of training, must receive grades of 3 or better
(on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest) in each of five different
categories of attributes on a Quarterly Progress Report, and the parent(s)
must fill out a Tiny Tigers Level Two Application.
The Five Attributes:
- Focus. Eyes follow the teacher, three ways of paying attention,
not being distracted by others, able to sit still when required.
- Participation. Willing to take on challenges, not afraid of trying
something new, not giving up after failure, responding to questions,
showing effort.
- Kung Fu Basics. Understands the fundamentals of punching, kicking,
blocking, and stepping.
- Respect. No rough housing, says yes sir/ma'am, understands the
term 'polite,' shares and waits for turn.
- Awareness. Pays attention, knows when to sit and be patient,
attentive to surroundings, can play or practice safely around other children.
Tiny Tigers develop physically, emotionally and intellectually at vastly
different rates. For example, a three year old may enter our program
and actually be more advanced than a four year old who has been in the
program for over a year. It may be entirely appropriate and more beneficial
for some Tiny Tigers to remain in Level One for the entire program, rather
than advancing them into a group where they will be in over their heads and
become discouraged.
Moving From Level One to Level Two
If your child has met the requirements to move from Level One to Level
Two and you believe it is in the best interest of your child to do so,
please get a Tiny Tigers Level Two Application from the front counter
and turn it in to Mr. George. Likewise, if our instructors feel that
your child should move up you will be invited to fill out an Application.
