About the Competition and Demo Team Class
Saturdays, 1:30-3:30pm
Adults and Teens:
This class is open to students in our adult Disciple
or Mastery Training programs (aged 14 and up) with six or more months of
training.
Children:
This class is open to children in our Black Sash Club or
Leadership Club (aged 5-13) who have reached Orange Sash or above.
Schedule:
1:30-2:30: Forms and weapons practice
2:30-3:30: Sparring, push hands, and demo self-defense technique
practice
The Class
A requirement for participating in this class is regular attendance.
Everyone has to miss a Saturday class now and then, but if you will miss
as many as you make, don't join.
All students have the option of participating in the 1:30-2:30 Forms
and Weapons practice, the 2:30-3:30 Sparring and Push Hands practice,
or both.
The first and second Saturday of each month, the Lion Dance team will
practice from 1:30-2:15pm instead of doing form practice. Both adults
and children are encouraged to participate in the Lion Dancing.
When actual demonstrations that are scheduled for the public are coming
near, rehearsals for these will be from 1:30-2:30pm. Students who are
not members of this Competition and Demo Team class may still be
participating in these rehearsals.
Shaolin students should find a regular partner and select three
self-defense techniques each that are practiced and fine-tuned regularly
for demo performances.
Each tai chi or Shaolin student may be assigned a specific empty-hand or
weapons form to perfect for demonstration purposes, and will have
optional forms to perfect for tournament competition.
All students in this class must have a Peaceful Dragon Demo Uniform.
The Demo Uniform doesn't need to be worn regularly to this class, but
must be worn to dress rehearsals when announced before any upcoming
demonstrations.
